Developing Cloud and Workplace Portfolio Strategy Assessments for Telefónica

To align the telecoms giant’s cloud and workplace portfolio services with market needs and trends

The Challenge

Telefonica approached Eraneos to help with advisory and support on its cloud infrastructure service transformation. The goal of this was to better leverage technology and improve cultural and training readiness.

At the same time, the company also had a second challenge it needed help with: developing a workplace strategy portfolio. This second project looked to improve and transform Telefónica’s workplace portfolio, according to market, competitors, and benchmarks – aligning it with market needs and trends.

Delivering results to Telefónica through two separate projects, both with great success.

The approach

For the company’s cloud strategy portfolio, we used the voice of the organization’s customer to obtain key information about Telefónica’s portfolio, market trends assessment, and action plan definition. For the workplace strategy portfolio, we planned three waves of transformation: discovery, evaluation/alignment, and transformation.

Telefónica is a Spanish multinational telecommunications company headquartered in Madrid, Spain. It is one of the largest telephone operators and mobile network providers in the world, providing fixed and mobile telephony, broadband, and subscription television – operating in Europe and the Americas.

The result

For the cloud project, we detailed an improvement plan based on the evolution of capabilities and solutions within the company’s cloud services portfolio, sales process, technical approach, economic offering, internal cost optimization, customer segmentation and positioning in potential markets, all based on the baseline situation and then prioritized this by impact. This plan helped Telefónica to increase competitiveness in terms of business value, price, innovation, and transformation as well as the quality of service.

For the workplace project, we developed a strategy focus orientation and alignment action plan with key requirements that were prioritized by evolution impact from the core perspectives. This helped to increase competitiveness in terms of price, deployment of new capabilities, flexibility, innovation, and transformation.
