The Challenge
The Swiss Federal Office for Civil Protection (FOCP) was renewing and constructing up-to-date telecommunication technologies. Working with Eraneos under a project named WEP2030, the FOCP was looking to completely overhaul the nationwide Polycom radio security network for police, firefighters, paramedics, and the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security, which has in the region of 55,000 daily users. Here’s how we helped.
Successfully renewing and constructing up-to-date telecommunication technologies for the greater good
The approach
The aim of the project was to create a crisis-resistant communication backhaul for the federal government and the cantons (member states) of Switzerland. As an external and neutral party, Eraneos’ approach was to oversee quality and risk management so the project could advance in an effective and efficient way.
Switzerland’s Federal Office for Civil Protection (FOCP) coordinates Swiss civil protection. It develops risk-based plans for the prevention and management of disasters and emergencies for the federal and cantonal authorities, operators of critical infrastructures, and the general public.
The result
We helped the FOCP overhaul its nationwide radio security network, which is used by tens of thousands of users every day. We were also closely involved in the initiation of the FOCP’s new mobile broadband communications infrastructure, which was subsequently rolled out for the Swiss security organizations.
Let’s create sustainable change together.
