Implementing a digitization strategy for Migrolino

Creating several digitization programs that would act as a solid basis for the company’s future growth.

The Challenge

Active throughout Switzerland as a franchise concept that had created 318 stores over 10 years, Migrolino was looking to write the next chapter in its success story. Its goal was to meet the rapidly growing demand for convenient food on the go with a consistent focus on better quality. Ultra-fresh products and a 24-hour shop idea were recent developments which had showcased the young yet well-established company’s dynamic and innovative power.

The company came to Eraneos to help find how it could best meet these goals.

“For us at Migrolino, coherently formulated strategies that deliver measurable results and are well received by our target groups make sense.”

Roger Meier, Head of Finance, Controlling & IT Deputy Company Manager

The Approach

Together with Eraneos, Migrolino developed a master plan to cleverly combine “digital” and “stationary”; a digital strategy for the perfect convenient customer experience in shops.

Our goal was to help it meet these requirements and see the project through to fruition with zero friction. And so the approach was to create seven digitization programs that would act as a solid basis for future growth. This included opportunities for action and projects that lay the foundation for digitization, implementing new automation, systematically expanding the lead over the competition, meeting customer needs perfectly, and ensuring vital additional income.

Migrolino is one of the leading providers in the Swiss convenience market with shops at railway stations, petrol stations, and selected city locations. It’s a 100% subsidiary of the Migros Cooperative Association and, as of 2019, is currently active in 319 locations in Switzerland. The shops are either run by Migrolino franchise partners or together with the strategic partners Migrol, Shell, and SOCAR in combination with a petrol station. Under the name Migrolino-wholesale, the company has also been offering logistics and services to partners outside the Migrolino family since 2014.

The Result

By implementing a digitization strategy alongside digitization projects that are adaptable at any time, Migrolino is now able to manage projects seamlessly, fitting this into the existing innovation process to become part of the company’s overall development.

Migrolino has also been able to combine operational management and strategic corporate development in such a way that new concept ideas are systematically integrated and driven forward in an agile way, while always remaining close to day-to-day business as well as the market.

This close interlocking of the strategic and operational levels has proven crucial in Migrolino’s success.

Let’s create sustainable change together.
