Eraneos Germany Advised Hapag-Lloyd in Acquiring the Terminal Business of SN SAAM in Central and South America

Press release

Global management consulting group Eraneos advised Hapag-Lloyd – Germany’s largest container shipping company – on completing its 100% acquisition of SN SAAM’s terminal business in central and south America. Following the acquisition agreement between Hapag-Lloyd and SN SAAM in October 2022, the deal was officially approved on August 1st, 2023, by all relevant antitrust authorities and countries.

In a move to expand its footprint in terminal infrastructure across key markets, Hapag-Lloyd acquired terminal operations and related logistics services across Latin America including operations in the US, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, and Costa Rica. With a deal volume of around one billion USD, Hapag-Lloyd is taking over 4.300 employees and 3.5 billion TEU annual container handling volume (2021).

Eraneos advised Hapag-Lloyd on deal-relevant IT areas such as investigation of IT-infrastructure, applications, licenses as well as preparation of carve-out, transition service agreements (TSAs) and day-1 readiness.

The Eraneos team working on the transaction consisted of Lars Godzik (Partner), Daniel Sausgruber (Manager), and Stephan Hüttner (Senior Consultant).
