The Challenge
Planned introduction of a capital market system as part of a redesign of the bank’s entire IT system landscape. Replacement of 25 existing systems, high volumes, complex IT target architecture with >100 interfaces. First phase of a 5-year program, distributed work at 4 project locations
The approach
Classical project planning approach with design, planning, implementation incl. testing and roll out. Agile software development as a basis: Requirements assessment in the form of user stories, implementation with regular releases in the form of sprints & drops. Development of agile methodology during the course of the project: test automation, monthly production deployments and several go-live dates per year. Towards the end of the first phase, parallel execution of several project phases – e.g. test phase 1 and parallel design & implementation phase 2.
The result
Successful “Big Bang” Go Live after 2.5 years of project run time. Implementation of core products and functions as a basis for further program phases. Cost savings and increased efficiency by replacing the first legacy systems. Adaptation of the project methodology due to complex project environment: Transition to a fully agile approach.
