From scattered data to smart decisions: The digital transformation of Elior Group

Eraneos’ support combined strategic design, technology transformation and the development of internal capabilities.

The challenge

Elior Group was facing a major challenge. In a multiservices sector where technology, sustainability and the intelligent use of data make all the difference, the organization needed to modernize. To that end, it launched a global program with the goal of fundamentally reshaping the way it is run: unifying processes and systems across all countries and business lines, putting its data in order, and building an efficient platform to grow on the basis of insight.

This meant a threefold challenge:
1. Bringing global order to its data, making sure everyone spoke the same language and defining who is responsible for each piece of data.
2. Training its own teams so they could lead this change themselves in the future.
3. Creating a single technical “blueprint” or model to serve as the foundation for data management, integrations and analytics across all countries and divisions.

The approach

Eraneos supported Elior Group in mapping out its new data strategy, designing a new operating model and enabling its teams to manage information autonomously. The key was combining organizational design with proven management practices and forming expert teams from different countries to collaborate and share knowledge.

  • A Data Center of Excellence (a central team to steer the strategy) was defined, along with its implementation plan.
  • Specialized working groups were set up for master data management, architecture and integration, and analytics.
  • The skills of the teams were assessed and tailored training plans were created for each role.
  • A new mindset across the company was fostered, building a network of data owners and experts in analytics and architecture.
  • A global Core Model was designed for master data management, system integration and analytics, ready to be rolled out across the group.
  • The organization was guided through the transition so that the change would be as smooth as possible.

The outcome is an operating and management model that can easily be replicated in any country or division, removing barriers and ensuring information remains consistent across the group.

"Eraneos brought us realistic solutions and demonstrated a deep understanding of both our processes and the technology. We now have a solid foundation to keep growing efficiently."

The result

This program creates a solid foundation to standardize and unlock the value of data, with clear strategic and operational benefits:

  • A standardized operating model for the entire group, yet flexible enough to adapt to the needs of each country.
  • Greater control over information, with clear rules on who owns each piece of data, how it is used and how it is protected.
  • Better-prepared, more autonomous teams, with a culture of collaboration that supports sustainable data management.
  • More automated, digital processes, reducing manual work and errors and delivering higher-quality data.
  • A modern data platform that allows information to be analyzed far more quickly to support better decision-making, opening the door to innovation and giving teams the ability to access data themselves.
