The challenge

Within our client’s ecosystem, the Healthcare Compliance division managed their core operational activities through a fragmented landscape of reporting dashboards and tools: over 16 different tools, inconsistent designs, and limited user flexibility. Compliance officers needed to combine multiple perspectives but were hindered by complex interfaces, scattered access rights, and time-consuming manual effort. The lack of a unified platform created inefficiencies, delayed critical decision-making and compliance assurance, directly translating into significant risk exposure for our client. Additionally, scaling the system for thousands of users required a cost-efficient approach that balanced performance, governance, and user experience. The challenge was to consolidate disparate reporting systems into one intuitive solution while ensuring compliance, scalability, and rapid adaptability to changing regulatory requirements.

The approach

We co-developed a custom-built analytics solution: a modular framework enabling business users to create and customize dashboards from pre-defined data and visual components—without coding skills. The backend, built in Python/FastAPI with Databricks integration of various source systems, ensures fast and complex data processing. The solution introduced a modern user interface built with Next.js, React, and Plotly. The frontend dynamically ingests data through APIs that query the backend in response to user requests, ensuring each visualization is based on the most relevant and up-to-date information. Designed with explainability, interactivity, and adaptability in mind, the interface enables compliance officers to drag-and-drop components, apply filters, and explore data at multiple levels of detail – all within a unified, harmonized platform. The solution was rolled out iteratively as a proof of concept initially, with a strong focus on short feedback cycles and close collaboration between user groups, UI/UX designer, and a team of engineers. We concluded our support with a fully scaled and operational solution embedded into the clients IT landscape and compliance processes.

Impact

The custom-built analytics solution consolidated 16 different dashboards, built on disparate technologies, into one unified platform. Compliance officers can now create customized views in minutes, improving responsiveness to new risks and reporting requirements. This Self-Service Platform for Compliance Analytics cut 10’000 hours of manual work per week. The modular component framework ensures scalability to 5’000+ users while reducing maintenance overhead. Most importantly, the solution established a reusable architecture, enabling the client to extend the same approach to other domains such as expense compliance, operational excellence, and risk reporting.
